Vehicle Description 1970 Buick Skylark GS, Hardtop Model 43437 This GS is a non-air car equipped with auto transmission, power steering, power 4-wheel drum brakes, posi differential, tilt steering, factory 15 Rally wheels, rear spoiler, factory AM/FM stereo radio, bucket seat and a shorty console.
I purchased this car in Denver on September 2002 with 116,250 miles.
According to the original owner, I am the second owner of this car.
The car now has 127,741 miles.
This is a factory original GS 350 car that I have upgraded to a 455 car.
The current 455 engine and matching turbo 400 transmission are out of a 1970 Buick LaSabre, the engine suffix code is SF.
The 455 engine was rebuilt in August 2003 by Engines to Go (Buick specialists in Englewood, CO) with the following work performed:
The block was bored 0.
030 over Compression ratio at 10.
0 to 1 Aftermarket performance camshaft at Stage 1 specs.
Stock heads rebuilt, high flow oil pump, performance build In addition to the engine and transmission upgrade, the following other work has been performed:
12 bolt chevy differential with new Dayton posi with 3.
42 ring and pinion gears and adjustable trac-bars.
Recently, the axle bearings, seals, pinion bearing and seal have been replaced.
New drive shaft, balanced.
New transmission cross member.
New front coil springs.
New four core radiator.
The transmission was also rebuilt in August 2003 by Detroit Transmission, Denver, CO.
The rebuild included a new 1800 RPM stall convertor and a mild shift kit.
The body and paint work was done in August 2002, and was a body-on restoration.
The car is painted in Fire Red base coat/clear coat.
The base coat/clear coat paint was applied by D & T AutoGraphics in Arvada, CO.
The work also included rechromed bumpers, new emblems, new windshield, and new vinyl top covering.
Interior work completed in July 2003 included new upholstery in front and back, and new carpeting.
Other major work performed as follows:
Fresh Stage One heads (rebuilt by Ridge Reamer, Arvada, CO) and a Stage Two aluminum intake manifold were installed in February, 2014.
Stainless headers and 3 exhaust were added in October 0214.
Front suspension rebuilt in December 2014.
Recently replaced the ring and pinion (3.
42) due to some whining.
Also included with the car are the non-stage heads and intake, various Buick parts, design, and rebuild books (Chassis Service Manual, Fisher Body Service Manual, Assembly Manual).
